Karen graduated from The Alexander Technique Training Center three year graduate program in Charlottesville, VA in 1998. She studied CranioSacral Therapy with the Upledger Institute; and received her Yoga Alliance certification in 1995; has studied with yoga with Donna Farhi in Vancouver, BC; Gary Kraftsow, Kausthub Desikachar; Esther Myers; explored Body Mind Centering with Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen; master Alexander Technique teachers; Debbie Kaplan; Jessica Wolf; Elizabeth Walker, Meade Andrews; and continues to broaden her learning of the body, mind and spirit and how the connections relate to our daily lives. She left the corporate world after 20 years and ventured into healing arts. After graduating from the Virginia School of Massage as a massage therapist; she was introduced to The Alexander Technique and found its principles of education to be much more long term for clients; because clients were learning about ways to find ease and less stress in “themselves” through experience which they could take with them into any activity they were involved in. Karen lives and teaches the Alexander Technique on Davis Street in historic downtown Culpeper. She also has a private practice at 32 Waterloo Street in Warrenton, VA. Karen recently served on the Board of Directors of the American Society for the Alexander Technique. The American Society for the Alexander Technique’s mission is to define, maintain and promote the Alexander Technique at its highest standard of professional practice and conduct.
